According to reports, maxbet Borussia Dortmund are in talks with Chelsea over the permanent signing of Michy Batshuayi, with the Blues demanding £50m for the Belgian star.
The Belgian international became an instant hit at Signal Iduna Park following his loan move in January, scoring 9 goals in 14 games before suffering an injury that ended his season.
However, Batshuayi has recovered in time for the World Cup but wants to wait until after the glitz and glamour event to decide his future.
Batshuayi, 24, joined Dortmund until the end of the season on a loan deal from Chelsea in order to fill the gap left by the transfer of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to Arsenal. Replacing the Gabon international was no small feat but Batshuayi became an instant hit amongst the fans since arriving at Dortmund.
The Belgian lacked game time, let alone first-team opportunities under Antonio Conte, as the Italian manager preferred summer signing Alvaro Morata. Prior to Morata’s arrival, Conte’s first-choice centre-forward was Diego Costa, meaning Batshuayi made sporadic appearances but impressed.
Yet, Batshuayi never succeeded in gaining the trust of Conte. After a brilliant season with Marseille, Batshuayi joined Chelsea in 2016 and scored only 19 goals in two seasons. The platform was set for the 24-year-old striker to make a big impact at Stamford Bridge but after failing to convince Conte, he left for Dortmund in January.
Since arriving in the Bundesliga, Batshuayi has looked so confident, which in turn has affected his form. Nine goals in 14 games is just a testament to the powerful Belgian’s goal-scoring attributes but an unfortunate ankle injury against Schalke in April cut short his season.
Prior to the injury, Batshuayi was at his best, enjoying the game, gliding past maxbet defenders and scoring goals but most importantly, with a broad smile on his face. He had rediscovered his form.
Some players view a loan spell as an opportunity while others see it as a sign of rejection but it’s always a chance to impress regardless. Batshuayi has grabbed the opportunity with both the hands and impressed massively in his short loan spell at Dortmund.
Nine goals in all competitions by the end of the season earned Batshuayi a place in Roberto Martinez’s Belgium squad for the World Cup. Interestingly, the 24-year-old has also recovered in time when his World Cup hopes looked all but shattered following the ligament injury he picked up in the Revierderby.
While only time will tell what the future holds for Batshuayi, given his marvellous loan spell at Borussia Dortmund, things only look positive for the big Belgian and the Bundesliga club should do their best to secure a permanent move for the striker.
On the other hand, Batshuayi has managed to resurrect his stuttering career in Germany and after becoming an instant fan favourite at Signal Iduna Park, he should leave Chelsea for Dortmund after the World Cup. maxbet
